Healthcare
Now that Medicaid expansion is the law of Missouri, we need a more robust plan to attract more doctors, nurses and medical professionals to our state; and we need to focus more on mental health and welfare. Rural hospitals have been shutting down, leaving a critical void in areas that need more, not less access to healthcare.
Economic Justice for the Middle Class/Labor Rights
The middle class has been under seige in the Missouri, and Unions are always on the forefront of this fight. We must stand behind Unions as they work to expand the middle class by ensuring health care coverage, living wages, and acceptable working conditions.
The Appelbaum family has a long history with Labor, Tom's Uncle Gene tells us why at the Appelbaum Family Reunion
Climate Change
Climate Change affects everyone! The only way to fight the effects of climate change is to address problems whereever we can. And Missouri MUST be a leader in this effort. We cannot afford to stand aside and wait for action by other states or countries. We need to act NOW!

Reproductive Rights
I believe that abortion is a safe and necessary healthcare procedure, however it is no longer legal in Missouri. It is my pledge to do everything I can to nullify the trigger laws that prevent women from getting the care that they need and deserve.

I have made my position crystal clear on the House floor too. check it out!
Equity and Equality
The US Supreme Court has made it clear that with no guarantee of a right to privacy, there are other rights that are now in danger. I stand firmly in support of protections for LGBTQ persons,
mixed race partnerships and age appropriate education.
Veterans
I don't believe in lip service, I believe in action. Tom and I brainstormed the concept of the nation's first Welcome Home the Heroes Parade to honor those who served in Iraq and Afghanistan. And I stand firm in my commitment to our veterans.
Gun Safety
I'm an advocate for common sense gun laws. Our children should feel safe enough to attend school; and we should all feel safe to attend places of worship, go to the supermarket or simply enjoy a live concert.
