My Story
Born in Arkansas, I moved to and grew up in Springfield, MO and attending public schools. I graduated from Tulsa University receiving a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training and Sports Medicine. In 1994 I was recognized at Student Athlete Trainer of the year. That degree brought me to St. Louis in 1997 where I worked in orthopedic medical sales and eventually started my own company in 2002. I ran this small business for 8 years and was deeply involved in the policy and procedures of the healthcare industry. I met my husband Tom in December of 2001 and we married in July 2004. We have lived in the 71st district since before we got married. In 2012 I won an American Legion Award of Merit for being an organizer for the Welcome Home the Heroes Parade to honor those who served in Iraq and Afghanistan. That same year I was nominated as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention; and during the convention I was interviewed by John Oliver. Check it out here (look for me at about 1 minute and 27 seconds into the video). In 2018 I was elected as the Representative of the 71st district. I currently sit on 4 committees: Health and Mental Health Policy Committee, Rural Community Development, Corrections and Public Institutions Committee, and the Consent and House Procedures Committee. I've also been appointed to the interim Committee on Veterans Mental Health and Suicide Prevention. My husband Tom and I share the love of animals, especially our (princess) Charlotte. Together, we are very involved in our community. Other highlights include:
